Chevin Golf Club

On behalf of the members of Chevin Golf Club, I am delighted to present this website introduction to our fine club and hope that this encourages you to a follow-up golf experience with us. You would be most welcome by all!

Chevin was opened in 1894 and is particularly well known for its superb greens and well-manicured presentation and has for many years been regarded as one of the premier courses in Derbyshire. The club’s long-established course of 18 holes (Par 70, 6,062 yards) covers both parkland and moorland terrain with magnificent 5-county views.

Due to the course layout, a mixture of both parkland and moorland terrain, you will be challenged with a variety of lies that will test the golfing skills of players at all levels of competence. Maximum satisfaction is usually achieved by those who favour a strategic focus, rather than length. The course qualifies for the long-established and globally-acclaimed measure of approval by being ‘laid-down in the way God intended’. Visitor’s reflections frequently confirm that all holes are presented as completely different in character and each offers a unique challenge.

The course starts in the lower Derwent valley and then meanders to the top of the Chevin hills, offering stunning views of two contrasting valleys; the Derwent valley and Ecclesbourne Valley. The 8th hole, our signature hole (aptly named ‘Tribulation’!), offers a particular challenge to all, regardless of capability, and is retained by many as a memorable and long-lasting experience.

You are especially encouraged to enjoy the vista from the 9th green, 12th and 13th tees and, on a clear day, you will be rewarded by the magnificent 5-county panoramic views offered from the Chevin Ridge.

We are particularly proud of the regular and highly-rated feedback received across the full range of our service offerings and for the warm and friendly welcome experienced by our visitors, members guests and golf societies. We have outstanding facilities and our bar and catering team, led by Hollie, will be happy to cater at our Fairways restaurant for private parties, business meetings, lunches, dinners, private functions, bar snacks or just a relaxing drink.

Our resident PGA Head Professional, Connor Steels, has a well-stocked shop and state of the art coaching facilities, where visitors are always welcome.

Andy Mellor, our General Manager and his in-house team, will be pleased to hear from you to discuss your requirements, and to ensure you have the best possible experience here at Chevin.

Please take the time to explore our website further. Here you will find a more comprehensive history of the club and our facilities, together with details and application forms for our highly-acclaimed open competitions. These are always very popular and heavily subscribed, especially during our annual Golf Week, which will be held in 2023 from August 12th to August 18th, where each day offers golfers a different competition format.

Thank you for visiting our website; if you need further information, please do not hesitate to contact our Club Manager, Office, Fairways or Professional, all of whom will be only too happy to help you enjoy the Chevin Golf Club experience to the full.

On a personal note, may I encourage you to join us at Chevin. If you have visited us previously, then you know your return will be warmly welcomed. If you plan to visit us for the first time…you are in for a real treat!

I would like to leave you with some independent feedback and reviews on the club from the highly respected GolfPass website:
