Meet the Team

Head Professional Connor Steels and his team extend a warm welcome to all members and visitors to the club and the staff work hard to ensure that every visit to the club is an enjoyable experience.

Connor Steels

Head Professional

Connor is a fully qualified PGA Professional and has worked in the golf industry for over 15 years. He started his PGA training at Newark Golf Club in 2013 and successfully qualified in 2016. Having successfully completed his PGA Training, his affiliation with Chevin Golf Club began, when he went to work as a PGA Assistant Professional for long-time Club Professional Willie Bird.

Connor has a strong passion for golf coaching and has since spent time working in Germany and more lately working as a Teaching Professional at Kedleston Park Golf Club. Connor has coached golfers of all abilities including beginners, club golfers, county golfers and professionals.

At the end of 2023 Connor returned to Chevin as Head PGA Professional. He now manages and overseas the day to day operation of Professional services. He uses the latest Trackman 4 technology for lessons, club fittings and simulator hire for groups or individuals.

“I pride myself on providing effective solutions and support for every golfer at any level. My philosophy is to not necessarily give players a new golf swing but to refine and improve their own. In my opinion there is no such thing as textbook golf”

Jacob Bagshaw

PGA  Assistant Professional

Jacob is a fully qualified PGA Professional and has worked in the golf industry for over 10 years. Before starting his PGA training, Jacob played on the Europro Tour for 3 years from 2015. Deciding to undertake his training in 2018 which he started out at Leek Golf Club, successfully completing his PGA training in 2022.

During 2021 Jacob went on to progress his career by moving to Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf club, where he gained valuable experience working at one of the leading golf clubs in the UK.

Jacob has a strong passion for golf coaching working with players of all abilities and still enjoys playing in professional events on the PGA circuit competing Nationally and in the Midlands. Joining Chevin Golf Club in early 2024, now balances his time in the professional shop striving to provide the best service for members and visitors along with individual and group coaching and club fittings.

“I pride myself on providing the best coaching experience for everyone I work with, helping each player improve and reach their goals and most importantly get them enjoying the game of golf no matter what level they play at”.
